Netflix has everything ready to launch at the end of August what it expects to be its most successful series of the year: One Piece. The live action of the original manga by Eiichiro Oda raised many controversies at first, since it was a very difficult anime to adapt and Netflix had just completed the great failure of Cowboy Bebop.

However, as trailers and promotional images have emerged, One Piece fans have begun to get coaxed by the idea of this live action, and as we learn more about it it’s clear that it could be a very good series.

The secret to the potential success of the live action is its casting. The actors starring in the series are winning over the public thanks to their good humor, tenderness and charisma. And among all of them there is a clear favorite: the protagonist who plays Luffy, Iñaki Godoy.

Iñaki Godoy’s child casting that proposes him as a perfect Luffy

The Mexican actor chosen to play Luffy is proving to be perfect for the character. And the most obvious example we have of this is a video he shot when he was only 11 years old and in which he makes it very clear that he has the perfect personality for Luffy… or at least for his childish and carefree version.

The video that has become popular is a children’s casting in which Godoy made very clear all his qualities. His mix between tenderness, cockiness and fun makes it clear that he is a perfect Luffy. But he also says something that has surprised everyone: “I’m very elastic! As if it were a premonition, Godoy made it clear to everyone that he was the perfect candidate to eat the Gomu Gomu no mi.
