As we have reported on countless occasions, it is clear that artificial intelligences are the big revolution of the decade. In addition to text chatbots such as ChatGPT and image generators such as DALL-E, the path of AIs has only just begun, and the future looks very interesting indeed.

One of the companies that is trying to integrate AI into its products in an even more revolutionary way is Humane, a technology startup about which little is known, but which has recently shown what it is working on.

The Verge has echoed a TED talk conducted by Imran Chaudhri, the co-founder of Humane, who shows in the presentation a preliminary version of what will be its future wearable with integrated artificial intelligence, designed to replace smartphones in the future.

The device in question consists of a small black disk that would be placed in a breast pocket, leaving a camera, a projector and a speaker protruding from the top. In the presentation, Chaudhri details some cases in which this curious wearable could be used.

For example, when receiving a call, the caller’s name is projected next to the classic answer or hang up icons. It also allows you to automatically translate a sentence just spoken by your user, saying it out loud in another language with a cloned voice of your user recreated with AI. In addition, it is able to analyze an object in front of it, such as a chocolate bar, and ask it questions about its use or characteristics.

Humane intends that, in the future, people will stop using screens. His device, whose name is not known at the moment, is still under development, and raises more questions than it answers. For example, it is unknown how you could use the device if you don’t have a T-shirt with a breast pocket, how secure it would be in terms of user privacy, or how the device accesses your digital information.

According to Chaudhri, we’ll know more about this flashy device in the coming months, so we’ll have to wait.
