Google continues to strive to offer users the best possible service, and part of that journey has been the new improvement that will allow users using the Google Contacts app to customize the ringtone according to the person trying to communicate with you. With this enhancement, users will be able to enjoy a more personalized experience when editing their contacts.

It’s an improvement that many users will welcome, but one that actually existed in the past, before the advent of smartphones, when phones weren’t smart but did have certain functionalities, such as customizing the ringtone for your contacts. Thus, Google acquires a functionality that many users were wishing existed in smartphones.

More customization for Android

According to Androidpolice, this new customization feature is one of the upcoming novelties that Google will bring to users of its native Contacts app, which, for example, is present on Pixel phones, also created and designed by Google. In fact, the new Pixel 8 made headlines for offering up to 7 confirmed years of service policies and updates.

This improvement will be available for the purest Android customization layers, as many brands often choose applications designed by themselves through their respective layers. For instance, Samsung users with One UI on their Operating System have a contacts app designed by Samsung, thus making it incompatible with this enhancement.

The plans with Gmail won’t stop

On the other hand, Google remains clear that it won’t stop its austere plan to reduce the volume of services in Gmail, which involves deleting accounts that have long periods of inactivity. As of now, the first massive elimination of accounts has already been carried out for those Google profiles that were created but never used again.

Starting in 2024, Google will begin deleting accounts that have been inactive for more than 2 years. However, there are several actions that can signal activity to Google for an account to remain active, such as having the account on an actively used Android device, watching videos on YouTube using the same Google account you want to keep active, checking your emails in Gmail, or simply signing in.
