Alien is a franchise that has gone through all possible states since Ridley Scott created it in 1979 with the classic horror film The Eighth Passenger. The filmmaker himself has been in charge of the franchise for years, bringing to the cinemas stories as complex and ahead of their time as Prometheus or Covenant.
However, the time has come to step aside and let other filmmakers explore its universe. With Disney as the new host and Fede Álvarez as the new director, Alien is back with Alien: Romulus, a film that returns to the origins of the saga and is chronologically set between the first and second films. Starring Cailee Spaeny, its trailer makes it clear the type of film we will see:
In space, no one can hear your screams
The synopsis of Alien: Romulus, which will be released on August 16th in theaters aiming to become the summer blockbuster, leaves no room for doubt:
“In this ninth installment of the immensely popular and enduring film series, a group of young people from a distant world find themselves in a confrontation with the most terrifying life form in the universe“.
