For many of us, Netflix is The Crown. The series, chronicling the life of the British royalty since Queen Elizabeth II was crowned, is one of those rare and wonderful shows we can watch from the comfort of our couch at home.

The production quality, the obsession with details, the infinite work on characterization… When one watches The Crown, it’s easy to forget it’s an interpretation. The series exudes credibility and royalty. Even the royal family’s miseries seem opulent. By the way, do we know which series will come next?

Today, Thursday, November 16, the sixth and final season of the series has arrived on Netflix, and now we’re going to explain what this last journey into the heart of the English monarchy narrates.

Synopsis and plot of the 6th season of The Crown

The sixth season of the royal drama depicts the events of the late 1990s, including Princess Diana’s relationship with Dodi Fayed and her death.

It also covers the aftermath of her death, portraying the “Diana ghost” appearing to Prince Charles and the Queen. According to critics, these parts are where the series falters in its final season.

The new season delves into the media frenzy surrounding Diana and Dodi’s (played by Khalid Abdalla) relationship, culminating in the paparazzi chase that led to the car crash in a Paris tunnel where they both tragically died on August 31, 1997.

The series also portrays the immediate events following the fatal car accident, including the reactions and responses of the Queen and Al Fayed, and Prince William’s attempt to reintegrate into life at Eton after the death of his mother.

Today we bid farewell to a series that has been with us since 2016. It’s been 7 years, seven wonderful years. The actors, the casting changes to age the characters, and more—this series is a rare work of art that’s hard to replicate. If you haven’t seen it, you’re missing out.
