Surely you know Carl Pei and his tech company Nothing. This tech genius and his company is bringing a breath of fresh air to the industry. That’s why the Nothing Phone (2) is causing such a stir.
With less than a month to go before the official launch of the intriguing Nothing Phone 2, details – both official and unofficial – are trickling out, but now we might have an answer to one of the biggest questions still hanging over the company’s next smartphone: the price, and it’s probably more than you’d expect.
Company founder and CEO Carl Pei has a habit of giving details of upcoming products that have yet to be released; it was the case during his time at OnePlus and remains so at Nothing.
We know the hardware of the Nothing Phone (2)… we were missing the price.
Therefore, we already have a pretty good idea of the hardware that will be included in the Nothing Phone 2 and, consequently, a general idea of its possible price.
Speculation may not be necessary, however, as a new source has released what it claims is the official European price of the Nothing Phone 2. In itself, this unverified claim would not have carried much weight, were it not for Pei later acknowledging the story on his own Twitter feed.
According to a French media outlet, the Nothing Phone 2 will arrive in two storage variants, each in two colors (black and white): a 256 GB model priced at €729 and a 512 GB model, which will cost €849.
For context, here is the European launch price of the Nothing Phone (1):
- 8 GB RAM / 128 GB: 469 EUROS
- 8 GB RAM / 256 GB: 499 EUROS
- 12 GB RAM / 256 GB: 549 EUROS
If true, this would mark a 55% increase in price compared to the base model of last year’s Nothing Phone (1), while making the Phone 2 more expensive than the Google Pixel 7.
Of course, we have to keep in mind that this Nothing Phone (2) is going to be a high-end phone from its very launch, while the Nothing Phone (1) was a mid-range/premium smartphone.
Nothing has also already confirmed that the Nothing Phone (2) will run Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset, a notable step up from the Snapdragon 778G in the first phone.
