It is clear that Max wants to exploit the brands of the “old” HBO Max to the maximum, and that includes both making a Harry Potter series and expanding the George RR Martin universe to the maximum with several Game of Thrones spin-offs. Currently, we have The House of the Dragon airing and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms in production, but it doesn’t end here.

Alongside these two spin-offs and many others that are in development, the most anticipated one has just been confirmed: a series about Aegon’s Conquest, the founder of the Targaryen dynasty and the one who created the structure of Westeros as we know it in the later series. Undoubtedly, it is one of the most anticipated stories in this universe, and it is finally going to become a reality.

But the best thing about this series is that the screenwriter is someone whose name is synonymous with quality: Mattson Tomlin. He is the screenwriter of the upcoming The Batman Part II, the second part of Matt Reeves’ film starring Robert Pattinson. And this is not the only movie he is known for.

Tomlin is one of the new script stars in Hollywood, and at just 34 years old, the Romanian screenwriter has already written Mother/Android, The Little Fish, Project Power, and the new Terminator series. At the moment, we don’t have much more information about the series, but it is truly a direct prequel to House of the Dragon, and it can provide a lot of context to everything we are seeing in this Game of Thrones spin-off.

Aegon’s conquest takes place a century before House of the Dragon and three centuries before Game of Thrones, so it will be perfect to narrate a time that gives meaning to everything that came afterwards in the previous series.
