Ari Aster became a renowned horror director for playing with impossible premises and for taking barely recognized actors at that time to the highest level. That’s what he did in Hereditary with Alex Wolff and Toni Collette, as well as with Florence Pugh and Jack Reynor in Midsommar. However, since his last film, Beau is afraid, starring Joaquin Phoenix, he has started working with more recognized casts… and his next film has it all.

Eddingon, as the next Aster movie is titled, will feature huge stars in its cast: the recently Oscar-winning Emma Stone, the trendy actor Pedro Pascal, the always recognized Joaquin Phoenix, and the breakout star from Dune: part 2, Austin Butler. With these four names, we approach the mystery behind this movie: what will Eddington be about?

An incredible cast

The very little we know about Eddington is that it is a western that takes place during the pandemic. That’s right, without anything else, we have to speculate about the film. For now, we know its genre, which is becoming less and less common in Hollywood, and it is clear that Aster will do something very interesting with it.

And we also know its setting: the 2020 pandemic. It seems that there are many directors who wrote stories during this year, and Aster’s seems to have something much crazier than what we are used to. It is clear that, after seeing Beau is afraid, nothing can surprise us… but we are dying to see what he has prepared.

Undoubtedly, having such an expensive and interesting cast, especially after the “failure” of his last film, makes it clear that everyone still trusts Aster as one of the most important directors today. He will have to prove with this movie that he still is.
