Activision has released a new video for Call of Duty: Warzone focusing on one of the major updates that’s on the way: its new map. Named Urzikstan, it introduces numerous novelties for all players, although there’s one that will probably disappoint many: the available user count is going to be reduced.
To be precise, and according to the information published in this development diary, the team at Raven Software has chosen to decrease the number of players from 150 to 100. This constitutes a one-third reduction from the usual count, as the initial figure has been constant since Warzone was launched in March 2020.
“The team argues that above all, our priority is to create an optimal and enjoyable experience for all our players based on metrics,” they explain regarding why this decision was made. “These metrics encompass everything from action time to map size, new circle timings, average match duration (20 minutes), and more.”
“We believe we’ve found the right balance to offer multiple phases that start with fair infiltration and looting, followed by mid-game confrontations and a final climax where the best emerge victorious,” they conclude.
As a curiosity, CharlieIntel published this week the size of the maps, so everything points to it being smaller within the main scale.
- Al Mazrah (7,095,838 m²)
- Urzikstan (to be determined)
- Caldera (6,405,025 m²)
- Verdansk (5,835,157 m²)
- Vondel (2,457,056 m²)
- Tower of Fortune (240,790 m²)
- Ashika Island (222,002 m²)
- Renaissance (152,865 m²)
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Season 1 will be launched this upcoming December 6th starting at 6:00 PM Spanish time.
