We have been waiting for the new iPads for weeks. After the launch of the new MacBook Air M3, the arrival of a new iPad Air and a new iPad Pro seemed imminent, but it has not materialized yet. Just over a week ago, Mark Gurman stated that the launch would take place in May, and now, the new iPads have appeared in a regulatory database.

Only two records and four iPads?

According to reports on 91Mobiles (via MacRumors), the iPads have appeared in the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) database with model numbers A2836 and A2837, which do not correspond to any current Apple device.

Right now, we don’t know if these two numbers belong to the iPad Air line or the iPad Pro line, although due to their similarity, we can rule out that they belong to different product lines. So, did Apple only register the Air model or the Pro model? The truth is that a simple number doesn’t give us much information, but things get more interesting if we add the size variants. In addition to thinner bezels and nanotextured display on the Pro models, let’s remember that the iPad Air is expected to receive a 12.9-inch display, so the numbers could very well belong to both screen sizes.

Even with the veil of mystery, the appearance of these models in a regulatory file is a clear indicator that their launch could be very close, which fits with their expected arrival in less than a month. For now, we can only wait, but it is clear that Apple is already gearing up for the launch of the 2024 iPads. They are among the most anticipated due to the renovations they bring and because they are taking much longer than we would like to make their triumphant entrance.
