Sony’s PlayStation hardware revision, wrongly dubbed the PS5 Slim model, is already available in several European countries as well as in the United States.
We knew the model would arrive at some point this month, and we had already seen some hardware bundles with the new model, including the Spider-Man 2 Slim bundle. However, the exact date when Sony would start distributing the new model hadn’t been confirmed yet.
Luckily, users in the United States and Europe can now get their hands on this slimmer model… though it’s not more efficient or powerful. In France, the new PS5 model was released for sale today and is already available in the PlayStation Direct stores in Germany and the Netherlands.
In the US, the new model can also be ordered through Sony’s official store, and it’s likely to arrive in stores as well.
Only in the United Kingdom, it will take a few days longer to arrive
Customers in the United Kingdom will have to wait a few more days to get their hands on the device, as it will be released for sale on November 29th. “Smaller design. Same power.”
The official PlayStation UK Twitter account announces, “The new PS5 model arrives in the UK on November 29th.”
Sony’s new PS5 model features a reduced form factor, an optional removable Blu-ray drive (requiring internet connection to function), and additional SSD space.

In the USA, the new model will cost $499.99 with the included disc unit, while the PS5 Digital Edition costs $449.99.
The new PS5 features a significant overall volume reduction of over 30% and a weight reduction of up to 24% (depending on the model you choose). Sony has included a protrusion on the side of the PS5 for the disc unit, which can be removed and replaced by a side panel.
If you purchase the basic PS5 Digital Edition, you’ll be able to add the Blu-ray disc drive later as Sony sells it separately for $79.99 ($119.99 euros / £99.99).
“Once the inventory of the current PS5 model is depleted, the new PS5 will become the only available model.” In Europe, its price will be 449.99 euros for the Digital Edition / 549.99 euros with the unit, and in the UK, it will be £479.99 with the unit or £389.99 for the PS5 Digital Edition.
