Microsoft continues to prepare for the event that will take place on May 20th with the aim of presenting the company’s plans both in terms of hardware and software. In the case of hardware, the Surface devices that the company will unveil for this year, and in the case of software, the new features that the build 2024 of Windows 11 will have, which will be released in the second half of this year.

There are still two months left until the event date, but according to certain leaks, it seems that the event itself is already starting to take shape and Artificial Intelligence would be the protagonist of the event, both for functions that are visible at the software level and the specifically prepared hardware of the Surface to perform at its best with these technologies.

Artificial Intelligence to create screensavers

According to sources close to The Verge, Microsoft’s plans for its event on May 20th would involve two things: showcasing their advancements in AI, and unveiling the new range of Surface devices, with hardware designed around the performance of Artificial Intelligence to meet current standards of this technology and offer high-level performance in this area.

Regarding AI, although not everything that could come out is known, the intention is already known to have improvements based on Artificial Intelligence in the file explorer, and for functions such as automatic generation of wallpapers through Artificial Intelligence to be available.

Surface gaining more prominence

Surface, Microsoft’s line of laptops focused on work, will also play an important role in the May event, according to leaks. This would imply that, considering the great leap in AI that Microsoft has taken in the last year, the new devices that Surface unveils will be specifically prepared to offer this type of services to users.

In fact, it is quite striking the interest that Microsoft has had in the last year in the development of Copilot, which has gone from being an Artificial Intelligence that would offer support in its services to being one of the main commercial assets of the company regarding the AI services offered by the competition. Important services in its productivity area, such as Azure, Teams, Outlook, have benefited from this, and improvements for Word and Excel will soon be available.
