Streaming services like Netflix, Max, and Amazon could face a price increase in Europe due to the implementation of digital tariffs by the European Union. This move is seen as a response to the tariff policies of the Donald Trump administration, which have created increasing trade tensions between Europe and the United States.

The French government has stated that the new tariff measures could come into effect at the end of April, affecting not only physical products but also digital services. This measure aims to pressure the United States to reconsider its stance on trade tariffs, which have been a subject of international controversy in recent years.
By imposing digital tariffs, Europe seeks to balance the trade deficit and increase the tax burden on large American tech companies. The idea is that, by making digital services more expensive, access to these services for European consumers will be restricted, which could lead to an increase in the prices faced by users. According to analysts, this could result in European citizens ending up paying more for services they currently consider essential.
Aside from Netflix and Amazon, it is expected that other digital platforms, including those for music and social networks like X, will also be affected. U.S. companies, although they have maintained a firm stance regarding Trump, may feel pressured to react if their revenues begin to be compromised by these new tariffs.

If the United States does not respond adequately, Europe may consider restricting access to American banks as part of its strategy. In this context, European citizens are on the lookout for possible increases in their streaming service bills as negotiations progress.
