Shirley Curry, known by many as Skyrim Grandma, has announced her decision to permanently retire from uploading content about the popular Bethesda RPG after 15 years of dedication. In her latest video titled “My ‘Goodbye’ to Skyrim,” Curry, who is approaching 90 years old, expressed her dissatisfaction with the creative process, stating that she no longer finds pleasure in playing or creating content about this game, which has been a central part of her life on YouTube.

A community that does not offer what interests it

Despite having over 1.3 million subscribers, most of his viewers are children, which has made it difficult for Curry to achieve the meaningful connection he desires. “I am not receiving any meaningful feedback from them,” he lamented, referring to the type of interaction he seeks with his community. While some followers have left affectionate messages, Curry feels that these do not reflect the purpose behind his videos.

The content creator explained that, although she will eventually continue uploading vlogs from time to time to communicate with her older followers, she does not want her channel to become a space for children. “I prefer meaningful conversations,” she emphasized. In her video, Curry mentioned that she had already considered retiring before, but this time it seems that her decision will be final.

On her journey as a creator, Curry recently took a break to play Oblivion Remastered, a title that allowed her to step away from Skyrim for a while. However, upon returning to Skyrim, she found that her interest had faded. “Every time I came up with a new idea to play, I quickly got bored,” she commented, making it clear that she has reached her limit with the game. With her announcement, Skyrim Grandma closes a significant chapter of her life and leaves an indelible mark on the gaming community.
