For years, there have been rumors that Spotify will launch a more premium plan than its current Premium rate. This new subscription is expected to include higher-quality audio, bringing the streaming music service in line with what Apple Music has been offering for a while.

Now, it seems we finally know some details about the plan, as well as the name the company has decided to give it.

A confirmation that comes to us from Threads

Chris Messina has visited Threads today to reveal details about Spotify’s upcoming HiFi plan. First things first: it won’t be called HiFi. It has been rumored for a while, but according to Messina, that brand no longer exists.

Instead, the plan will be called “Spotify Supremium.” As previously anticipated, the plan will cost $19.99 per month.

In addition to an appealing name, the new plan will offer subscribers 24-bit lossless audio, 20-30 hours of audiobooks before having to pay for the full book, and a bunch of tools and statistics that true music enthusiasts love.

Below you can find the complete list of planned features, as well as the “Supremium” logo:

  • “Your Sound Capsule”
  • Advanced playlist mixing tools (BPM, vibe, mood, activity, and genre, etc.)
  • Automatic playlist generation tools
  • Last.fm-style listening statistics (“Highlights”)
  • 20-30 hours of audiobooks
  • 24-bit lossless audio (the HiFi brand is dead)

Although we already know the logo and planned features, the exact date when the company’s customers can subscribe to the new plan is still unknown.

Messina states that there isn’t an exact date yet, but he hopes the new plan will be available by the end of the year. This leak comes in the same week Spotify announced that its Premium subscribers will be able to listen to 15 hours of audiobooks per month as part of their subscription.

This feature is already available to subscribers in the UK and Australia and will be rolled out to users in the United States by the end of the year.

We’ll see if Spotify gains traction with this Supremium plan, but it seems like it will be for a very limited number of customers. Nevertheless, it’s good that it exists.
