Secret Invasion has divided the audience. The latest series on Disney Plus has turned out to be a small audience failure, ranking as the second least-viewed Marvel show, only ahead of Ms. Marvel. However, its quality is not in question, and it continues to surprise with new storylines and twists that keep the tension high at all times.
In the first two episodes, we already saw that the series meant business. In the first episode, the death of Maria Hill made it clear that we were dealing with something bigger than we thought. And in the second episode, the revelation about Nick Fury’s wife allowed us to delve deeper into a character we thought we knew well.
But now, the third episode has arrived, and with it, the biggest plot twist of the series so far. It’s something that nobody saw coming, and yet, it turns Secret Invasion into a kind of Game of Thrones where no one is safe. Spoilers ahead.
The fate of G’iah
One of the biggest draws of Secret Invasion is the addition of G’iah as a new character. Portrayed by none other than Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen), she is a Skrull who is the daughter of Talos. In the series, we have seen that she is allied with Gravik, but unlike him, she doesn’t seek the most severe confrontation and has empathy, secretly collaborating with Talos.
It was expected that G’iah would be an essential character in the plot, and her involvement in the series would lead to future appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, unless there is a new plot twist, this will not be the case… because G’iah dies in Secret Invasion‘s 1×03.
After the death of Maria Hill, it didn’t seem like there would be another significant fatality in the series. However, in the third episode, Gravik mercilessly shoots G’iah, causing her instant death. It appears that this event will shape the remaining episodes of the series, leading to a subsequent revenge from Talos.
Once again, it is unclear whether the death will be permanent or not. After all, this is Marvel, and anything is possible, from time travel to multiverses. However, it is evident that the risk they have taken is significant and will be crucial for the remaining part of Secret Invasion.
