CD Projekt Red, the developers of the popular gaming franchise has recently announced that the newest installment, The Witcher 4, has entered pre-production. As exciting as this news is for fans of The Witcher games, there is still a lot for fans to speculate about.

In an official blog post, developers CD Projekt Red confirmed that they were looking back over the progress made in the first quarter of 2022 and also announced that the research phase of The Witcher 4 (as we have no official title yet) is completed. The project is moving to the next stage, which is pre-production.

As the game only just moved to pre-production, it could still be a few years before we see the release. This explains why we haven’t received much information about the game yet, such as a title, who the main character will be, and much more. The developers did share one teaser image. This teaser has sparked quite a bit of speculation from fans.

The teaser image included in the developer’s recent update video depicts a Witcher Medallion buried in the snow. Many fans believe this medallion is linked to a major character, Ciri, from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The developers have already announced that Geralt’s journey has come to an end. This means we’ll be seeing a new main character in The Witcher 4. Due to the teaser image, fans are wondering if the new main character will be Ciri?

Regarding the teaser image, CD Projekt Red confirmed it’s of a lynx. This would appear to be a new Witcher school introduced in the new game. So far, we’re very excited to see what they would look like since the developers partner with Epic Games and are building The Witcher 4 in Unreal Engine 5.
