Netflix continues to accumulate problems. The streaming platform that has already lost millions of users in Spain due to its account sharing policy is having another big problem with one of its biggest bets: The Witcher. The fantasy series lost a few months ago its protagonist, Henry Cavill, to be replaced by Liam Hermsworth in the future fourth season.
This already provoked at the time that fans were against the series, but now it has materialized with a great review bombing in which they have made it clear that many have no interest in following the fiction after the announced changes. The negative votes have come in the trailer of the series on YouTube, and already exceed 300,000.
A series doomed to cancellation?
In fact, the negative votes are five times the positive ones, making it very clear to Netflix that, if this is the path they are going to take with The Witcher, many are thinking of getting off the boat. Even so, there is a fourth season confirmed with Hermsworth, but depending on the results of the third one, everything may change.
Even so, this may not end up reflecting as it should on the viewers. It should be remembered that The Witcher is one of the most watched series on Netflix, and in the second season it accumulated 460 million hours of playback in the week of its premiere. But, of course, this could change drastically following decisions made by the platform. And, while in the third they may survive by keeping Henry Cavill, such a significant change in the fourth I doubt it will hold up well.
Season 3 of The Witcher will premiere next June 29, and this time it will arrive with only five chapters. We will have to wait until then to see if, as everything seems to indicate, it becomes a new Netflix failure.
