The Zelda titles on Switch 2 will include a new integration with the mobile app

Nintendo has confirmed that its new console, Nintendo Switch 2, will be released on June 5th. This highly anticipated launch will be accompanied by exclusive editions of two of its most beloved titles: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Both versions promise to incorporate significant innovations aimed at enhancing the player experience.

Repairing weapons: something necessary for many

One of the most notable features of these editions will be the integration with the Nintendo Switch mobile app, which will provide access to what has been called Zelda Notes. Among the new features are achievements to unlock, a system to locate Kologs through voice commands, and leaderboards. Additionally, players will be able to enjoy daily bonuses that, although designed to facilitate gameplay, have generated mixed opinions within the community.

One of the most controversial elements to be incorporated is a random bonus that allows weapon repairs. This option addresses one of the historical complaints from players: the breaking of weapons in Zelda games. While the possibility of restoring equipment may be appealing, players must keep in mind that the bonus is a one-time use and is activated randomly, which may not meet everyone’s expectations.

For owners of the original versions of these games on Nintendo Switch who are subscribed to the Nintendo Switch Online expansion pack, these exclusive editions will be available at no additional cost. This appealing approach aims not only to introduce improvements to existing titles but also to encourage subscription to Nintendo’s online services.

With the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 and these innovative editions of Zelda, the Kyoto company aims to revitalize its offering in the video game market, while listening to and responding to the needs of its gaming community.
