Although very few expected a Borderlands movie, the truth is that the trailer for the film based on the video game has surprised everyone thanks to its high quality. With an incredible cast led by Kevin Hart, Cate Blanchett, and Jamie Lee Curtis, as well as a screenplay by Craig Mazin (The Last of Us and Chernobyl, beware), it is clear that the movie is going to be a spectacle.

Borderlands has its release date planned for August 9th, making it one of the most tempting offers of the summer blockbusters. But before it is released, we still have many questions to answer, such as which video game characters will we see in the movie? For now, we have some answers.

The summer blockbuster?

The following characters have already been confirmed by the trailer, and these are the respective actors who will accompany them:

  • Lilith will be played by Cate Blanchett
  • Roland will be played by Kevin Hart
  • Claptrap will be played by Jack Black
  • Dr. Patricia Tannis will be played by Jamie Lee Curtis
  • Tiny Tina will be played by Ariana Greenblatt
  • Krieg will be played by Florian Munteanu
  • Mad Moxxi will be played by Gina Gershon
  • Scooter will be played by Steven Boyer
  • Ellie will be played by Ryann Redmond

  • Hammerlock will be played by Charles Babalola
  • Krom will be played by Olivier Richters

According to the synopsis of Borderlands, Lilith (Cate Blanchett), an infamous treasure hunter with a mysterious past, returns to her home planet of Pandora to find the missing daughter of the powerful Atlas (Edgar Ramirez). To do so, she forms an unexpected alliance with a diverse team of misfits: Roland (Kevin Hart), a former elite mercenary now desperate for redemption; Tiny Tina (Arianna Greenblatt), a wild pre-adolescent demolitions expert; Krieg (Florian Munteanu), Tina’s muscular protector; scientist Tannis (Jamie-Lee Curtis); and Claptrap (Jack Black), a very peculiar robot.

These strange heroes will have to fight against alien monsters and dangerous bandits to search for and protect the missing girl, who may hold the key to unimaginable power. The fate of the universe could be in their hands, but they will fight for something more: each other.
