Netflix has announced this week part of the video game catalog that will arrive on the platform in 2024, including Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit, sequel to the game of the same name of the “Animal Crossing” type, and a video game of Rebel Moon, the two-part space opera created by Zack Snyder. Also available next year will be Sonic Mania Plus, one of the latest titles in the Sonic The Hedgehog franchise.
The streaming company started its adventures in the world of video games just over two years ago. By the end of this year, Netflix Games will have 86 games available for all subscribers, with another 90 titles in development.
The vice president of games at Netflix, Mike Verdu, wrote in a blog post for the company that “although we are still in the early stages of the journey, last year we took fundamental steps towards the goal of making Netflix a destination for must-play games.”
Developed by Super Evil Megacorp, the Rebel Moon video game will take place after the events of Rebel Moon Part One: The Girl of Fire and Rebel Moon Part Two: The Warrior Who Leaves Marks, films that will be released soon on Netflix. Players will be able to choose the character they will control in this cooperative action game for four players.
In addition to Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit and Sonic Mania Plus, the list of new titles for 2024 includes FashionVerse, a game where you can create your own fashion designs, and Game Dev Tycoon, which allows players to create their own video game development studio from scratch.
Last week, the co-CEO of Netflix, Ted Sarandos, also mentioned a video game based on Playing with Fire, the popular reality show on the platform, as an example of the company’s commitment to leverage its growing library of intellectual property.
The list of games for 2024 includes titles based on the productions A Place to Dream, Squid Game, The Queen’s Gambit, Chicken Run and other film and television properties. In addition, games such as Monument Valley (1 and 2), Katana Zero or Hades, the successful roguelike developed by Supergiant Games, will also be coming soon to the catalog.
