Few brands are able to get away with as much as Apple. The Cupertino-based company knows its customers very well and makes no concessions when it comes to presenting and selling its products. If you decide to go for a device from the company, you are also agreeing to play by its rules.

The same thing has happened with the long-awaited Vision Pro. Apple has opened a new section on its website for developers to order the development kit for its new mixed reality glasses. However, accessing them is not at all easy.

Apple has made it very clear that it does not want to leave its Vision Pro to just anyone. For this reason, applications are scrutinized. To begin with, we will have to make a presentation of the development team and explain the work they do (products they sell, application portfolio, etc). Here it is also essential to detail what kind of experience we have when it comes to developing for virtual, augmented or mixed reality.

If the application is finally approved, Apple gives us two things: the Vision Pro development kit and a technical support team. The company puts at our disposal several experts, whose job would be to guide us with the design, interface and user experience of our application or game.

As expected, Apple makes it clear that it will give priority to developers whose applications know how to exploit the potential of the Vision Pro. However, Cupertino does not stop there. Upon acceptance, we will have to fill out a form about the size of our head. To do this, we will have to use the “Measure and Fit” application that “uses the iPhone camera to determine the size of elements such as the headband”.

As if that were not enough, Apple also let slip that “an AirTag could be used” to track the location of the Vision Pro at all times. And security is something they take very seriously. So much so that the company does not allow people outside the developers to test the glasses (family, friends, etc.).

For the time being, the rest of us will have to wait for the launch of the Vision Pro, which will occur sometime in 2024.
