There are thousands of content creators who have been asking for this change for over a decade. The view and like counter on YouTube is stagnant and closed, without real-time updates. Something that in 2023 cannot be justified.

It can’t be denied that the number of views and Likes on YouTube videos is very important. Just look at the GTA 6 trailer, which has racked up over 60 million views in just 12 hours.

And so far, Google has chosen to be very conservative with video counters, without the possibility of changes and instant or real-time updates.

Real-time counter, the big change YouTube is preparing

Well, this might change soon, as the company is working on a real-time views and “likes” counter, and once it’s up and running, it will do exactly what it implies and, more importantly, free you from any third-party software or add-ons you might be using.

Now, it’s worth noting that the feature isn’t rolling out to everyone yet, but there seems to be a video showcasing how it works, and, well, it’s pretty straightforward.

The great thing is that this new real-time counter stays updated when you switch between different apps or close YouTube and return to it.

As we’ve mentioned, the new feature is only available for some YouTube users, and the company itself hasn’t spoken much about the new update.

For many YouTube creators, the number of “likes” and “views” is part of their daily routine and a good indicator of video performance. The arrival of this feature on the platform is something that should have happened a long time ago, but I’m glad it’s finally in motion.
