Big tech companies continue to drive their artificial intelligence models, making them more capable and versatile over time. In addition to the widely used web versions, AI companies are also interested in developing mobile versions of their models, and the latest to do so is the all-powerful Google.

According to Android Authority, the company would be developing Gemini Nano, a smaller version of its AI Gemini that is designed to run locally on smartphones. This version would supposedly have the ability to summarize articles from the Internet that you read in Chrome, as deduced from certain lines of code in Android’s Private Compute Core.

Although this is something that Gemini can already do if you are subscribed to the experimental Search Generative Experience feature of the Google app on your mobile, Gemini Nano would perform all the processing locally, without the need to connect to the web. This way, when you open the app on articles like this one, you would get an automatic summary of it.

However, due to the fact that the Nano version of Gemini is designed to work on mobile devices, it will be smaller and less complete than other variants of the model, so it will most likely have fewer functionalities.
