Marvel is at a point of no return. Despite spin-offs like X-Men ’97 giving the studio a breather, overall the Marvel Cinematic Universe is facing an unprecedented crisis. From the halt of Jonathan Majors, who was going to be the company’s “new Thanos,” to the failures of highly anticipated series and movies like The Marvels or Secret Invasion, the atmosphere in the MCU couldn’t be worse.

However, there is still a small chance that everything will go back to how it was. Soon – in fact, according to initial plans, they should have already been released – two Avengers movies will be released that will try to bring back the hype of Infinity War and Endgame. As far as we know, they are not even in pre-production yet, but there is already a director who has volunteered to save the Marvel universe.

A new opportunity for Marvel?

Sam Raimi, well-known for being the director of the original Spider-Man trilogy, has expressed his interest in directing this film in an interview with CBR. When asked about this possibility, his words were as follows:

“I love 90% of the Marvel heroes that I have read in the great comics by Stan Lee. I would love to work with Marvel again. They haven’t asked me reasonably. I hope they have had a good experience with me. They haven’t asked me yet. I hope they do.”

Of course, he would have justification. His film in the MCU, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, was a huge success, and it also demonstrated a directorial skill that had rarely been seen in this universe. However, it doesn’t seem like Marvel Studios is going to choose him… but anything can happen, and the fans would be delighted.
