YouTube has started testing a new integration with Google Gemini to support creators in generating ideas, titles, and thumbnails for their videos. The new feature, called “Brainstorm with Gemini,” was announced through a video on YouTube’s Creator Insider channel.
This new functionality of YouTube is very similar to another one that the platform launched in May, which basically was an AI-driven content inspiration tool. The feature offers content creators ideas on video topics that might interest their audience and generates a framework of conversation topics to facilitate the creation process.
According to a spokesperson from YouTube, as reported by TechCrunch, this feature is currently available to a select group of content creators as part of a limited experiment. The company plans to gather user feedback before deciding whether to release the feature more widely.
The “Brainstorm with Gemini” tool could give YouTube a competitive advantage over other social platforms frequently used by creators, as it offers something that is not available on these rival platforms. Google’s decision to incorporate its AI into the video platform also seems like a strategy to encourage content creators to use their tools instead of turning to alternatives like ChatGPT from OpenAI.
Creators participating in the experiment can access YouTube Studio, enter a video idea in the search bar, and choose between two options: the inspiration tool or “Brainstorm with Gemini.” While the inspiration tool already provides ideas to content creators, YouTube wants to evaluate if the integration of Gemini is also helpful in this idea generation process.
