As spring fills the air with pollen, many allergy sufferers are struggling with severe symptoms. Google has introduced a new feature for Pixel users that aims to make dealing with allergies much easier. The Pixel Weather app now includes a dedicated pollen tracker, designed to predict pollen levels and help users plan their days accordingly.
How Pixel Weather’s Pollen tracker helps allergy sufferers
The Pollen tracker shows the levels of three major types of pollen: grass, tree, and weeds. Severity is marked by a simple traffic light system—low, medium, high, and severe—making it easy to assess conditions at a glance. Users can tap the widget to open a detailed Pollen page with forecasts for the next few days: two days ahead for grass and weeds, and up to four days for tree pollen.
More than just forecasting, the tracker identifies which specific plants are causing pollen spikes each day, such as oak, alder, ash, birch, and olive. This allows users to better understand which allergens are most active and adapt their habits to minimize exposure.
An additional feature warns that grass pollen allergies may trigger food sensitivities to common items like oranges, tomatoes, peanuts, and potatoes. This holistic approach gives users more tools to manage both environmental and dietary triggers.
Currently available in the U.S., U.K., Germany, France, and Italy, Pixel’s pollen tracker is a vital resource for anyone affected by seasonal allergies. While it can’t eliminate pollen, it offers a valuable advantage: knowing when to stay indoors or prepare for the worst.
