We are facing a rather complex year in terms of cinema. The biggest franchises are failing with their blockbusters and most of them are barely recovering the base budget investment. This is causing a collapse in many studios, and one of the most affected is Warner, especially as far as the DC Comics universe is concerned.

For a while now, Warner has been trying their luck with their superhero universe formerly led by Zack Snyder, but that has led to the biggest box office flops they’ve had in recent years. Now, they’ve already put James Gunn to work on a full reboot… but there are still a few releases to come.

The next of these releases is Blue Beetle, a film about DC’s beetle superhero who functions as a sort of Iron Man. Of course, its fame is quite a bit less than that of others that have also hit it big at the box office recently, and it looks to be an announced flop. Still, the final trailer is out, and it’s worth checking out.

A film that no one has asked for

Although we had already had a glimpse of Blue Beetle before this final trailer, with the new images it is quite clear what the film will look like. And its synopsis also adds some more information to what we’ve seen:

Jaime Reyes finds himself in possession of an ancient alien biotech relic called the Scarab. When the Scarab chooses Jaime as a symbiotic host, it grants him a suit of armor with extraordinary and unpredictable powers.

Blue Beetle is scheduled for release on August 18, 2023, making it the next summer blockbuster attempt after the failure of The Flash. However, as we have been saying, it seems to have absolutely nothing to do in a box office that already seems to be in its last hours.
