Ghostbusters is one of the most important franchises of the 1980s, and after an attempt to adapt the original story into an all-female film in 2016, a sequel with a new cast was finally realized in 2021: Ghostbusters: Afterlife. This film was a modest success and confirmed that the franchise was still going strong.

Now, we have received the eagerly awaited trailer for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the sequel to the latter film where we will once again see the young new Ghostbusters we became acquainted with in 2021. But they are not alone. As we can see in the trailer, a pleasant surprise awaits the fans:

The generational union we’ve been waiting for

As we can see in the trailer, in this sequel, the new protagonists will join forces with Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, and Dan Aykroyd, the actors from the original 1984 film. Together, they must face a second ice age that could end humanity, so the threat seems worthy of this generational fusion. The official synopsis is as follows:

“The Spengler family returns to where it all began, the iconic firehouse in New York, to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who have developed an ultra-secret research lab to take ghost hunting to the next level. But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, the new and old Ghostbusters must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.”

The release date for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is March 29, 2024. In other words, we still have to wait quite a bit to see the film, but in the meantime, we can enjoy the previous movies and catch up before facing this new threat.
