Who doesn’t remember the Nightmares books? Written by RL Stine, considered the Stephen King of the little ones, during the nineties they populated bookstores around the world with their terrifying covers and their exacerbated stories. But the experience did not remain in literature; soon, in 1995, it was adapted into a series that adapted the best stories to this new format.

The Nightmares series used to compete with The Midnight Club when it came to terrifying childhoods with its multiple scary stories. And now it’s back on Disney Plus with a new series created by the same people who were behind the two recent movies of the same saga that arrived in 2015 and 2018. About the series, we can already see 17 seconds in its first teaser trailer.

“A pop culture phenomenon.”

Nightmares aims to be a new adaptation of RL Stine’s classics, this time taking the format of the classic series: young people who tell nightmarish stories and who also star in them. In addition, the creators Nicholas Stoller and Rob Letterman have explained that, despite borrowing from the tone of the films, it will be more terrifying than them.

The series stars Justin Long (Barbarian) and Rachael Harris (Lucifer), along with new faces Zack Morris (EastEnders), Isa Briones (Star Trek: Picard), Miles McKenna (Guilty Party), Ana Yi Puig (Gossip Girl) and Will Price (The Equalizer).

“The Nightmares franchise is a pop culture phenomenon that holds a special place in the hearts of people of all ages,” explains Disney Branded Television President Ayo Davis. “We are thrilled to bring this spooky new series in a big way to audiences around the world on Disney+ and Hulu. We expect it to not only captivate new audiences with its heightened thrills and chills, but also lifelong fans nostalgic for the stories that are a staple of their generation.”
