When in February of last year the emulators of Game Boy and Game Boy Advance were announced for Nintendo Switch Online, the subscription service of Nintendo, there was a game that quickly caught the attention of all players: Golden Sun. Month after month, the grown-up Nintendo fans (those of us who grew up playing with the Game Boy Advance) begged the heavens for Nintendo to release the JRPG from Camelot.

Well, today, just under a year after Nintendo’s announcement, the company has finally answered our pleas and will add both Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age this month, its direct sequel.

The inclusion of both titles at the same time makes sense, since at the beginning of its development, Golden Sun was conceived as a single game, although finally Camelot chose to divide it into two “chapters” due to the limitations of the Game Boy Advance cartridge.

Starting from January 17th, those who subscribe to Nintendo Switch Online, necessary to play console games online, will be able to start their adventures in Weyard, a world based on continents, regions, and cultures that exist or have existed on planet Earth, and in which there is a mysterious magical force known as Alchemy that governs the 4 basic elements: earth (Venus), fire (Mars), wind (Jupiter), and water (Mercury).

The release of these two titles, beloved by the Nintendo community, is great news for both veterans like myself (I spent hundreds of hours playing both games as a teenager) and for younger players who have never played the series (or have done so following Jack Sparrow’s path).

In addition, as the icing on the cake, the Golden Sun 1&2 versions of Nintendo Switch Online will allow data transfer from one game to another using local Switch communication (as seen in the previous image).

In this way, according to the Nintendo’s Japanese blog, players will be able to avoid having to enter a 260-character password (10 minutes of their lives) to transfer the level of the characters, the djinn, and the equipment they had in Golden Sun to Golden Sun: The Lost Age (believe me, it’s a great addition).
