At the end of the year, it is important for any respectable company to have everything closed for the following year. Not only to have everything tied up, but to have a roadmap of the milestones that are intended to be achieved throughout the year. Especially if it is a video game company that has some kind of game as a service, or MMO. Since their fans, if there is something they desperately seek, is to always know in advance everything they can expect.
That is exactly what Blizzard has done before closing out this 2023 with its most beloved franchise: World of Warcraft. They have given us the game’s roadmap. Everything we can expect from the franchise for the upcoming year, which seems to be quite a lot.
Although the main event of 2024 will be the new expansion of the game, The War Within, it won’t be the only thing we can expect in the game. Before that, we will have three major patches, named Seeds of Renewal, Dark Heart, and The War Within Pre-Patch, which will include new events, zones, and improvements to the game. That in addition to the highly anticipated Season 4, which will reset the PvP and Mythic+ season, in addition to the expansion itself. As expected, it will include four zones, eight dungeons, and a new raid, as well as a campaign and a new race for the alliance, the Earthen.
But that’s not all. They have also specified everything we can expect from World of Warcraft Classic. And it doesn’t seem like it’s going to be little either. With Cataclysm Classic as the big expansion of the year, announced for early summer, throughout the year they will raise the maximum level to 60, introduce new runes, raids, and make adjustments to one of the big additions of this year: World of Warcraft Hardcore.
All of this points to the fact that, on paper, World of Warcraft fans are going to have a good year ahead. Something that we can only celebrate, hoping that the queues with each new patch do not exceed a couple of hours of waiting.
