“For me, the best series of the year. True to the game, original in many parts, always daring, and with brilliant characters. The Last of Us is a series worth watching and re-watching. It’s even worth the 8 euros per month that HBO Max service costs.

HBO announced in January that a second season of the excellent adaptation was in the works, and on Thursday, HBO and Max’s Chief Content Officer, Casey Bloys, said that the season will go into production in early 2024, according to Variety.

“The CEO of the company said that production was delayed due to the strikes of WGA and SAG-AFTRA (the latter of which is still ongoing). The series was also not on HBO’s schedule for 2024, according to Variety, which means it may not be released until 2025 at the earliest.

But there is also good news: the series is in progress

That said, some preparations have already been made for the new season. ‘We’ve outlined the entire second season, and we’re ready to start as soon as the strike ends,’ co-creator Neil Druckmann told Entertainment Weekly in an interview published in September.

And showrunner Craig Mazin separately told Entertainment Weekly that he submitted a script for the first episode of the season just before the WGA strike began.

Casey Bloys revealed other details about HBO’s programming on Thursday. The second season of House of the Dragon is set to premiere ‘early summer’ 2024, as reported by Variety. The third season of The White Lotus and its spinoff Welcome to Derry are now scheduled for 2025, according to Deadline.

The CEO also responded to Wednesday’s news from Rolling Stone that detailed how an employee was forced to troll Twitter critics who were mocking the company’s shows.
