Less than a month remains until the premiere of Knives Out: Glass Onion, the highly anticipated third installment of Benoit Blanc’s detective adventures, which will hit theaters on November 26 and arrive on Netflix on December 12. The first viewers who have had the opportunity to see the film generally consider it the best in the saga, reinforcing the good track record of director Rian Johnson, especially after the controversy generated by The Last Jedi.
Let’s solve the mystery!
Johnson is aware that this film represents a key opportunity to reconnect with the audience, and he has emphasized on several occasions that his main star, Daniel Craig, is indispensable for the role of Benoit Blanc. During a recent interview with IndieWire, the director compared Craig’s importance in this series to that of iconic franchises like Indiana Jones, stating: “He’s Indy. It has to be Daniel”. His closeness to the character has been so significant that Johnson revealed that initially it was not easy to secure Craig, as he was busy with his work as James Bond.
Despite the initial challenges, Johnson and Craig have developed an excellent working relationship. The director has indicated that they both impose some mutual pressure on each other: “I think the pressure we both put on each other is to try to do the right thing for the other”, suggesting a deep commitment to the quality of the saga. Furthermore, Johnson is already working on a probable fourth installment, indicating that plans for the future of the series are very much alive.
With this outlook, it’s no surprise that the audience is eager for the arrival of the new movie, which promises to continue maintaining the high level that fans expect from this successful franchise.
