Although it has now become practically a cult film, for decades David Lynch’s film Dune became a cursed work that no one – especially the director himself – wanted to know anything about. Thus it prevailed as a critical and box office disaster, cursing Frank Herbert’s own novel… until Denis Villeneuve came and fixed everything.

Now, with the release of Dune: Part II, the second half of the story that completes Paul Atreides’ rise to power, actor Kyle MacLachlan, star of Twin Peaks and former Paul Atreides in Lynch’s version, has been asked about these films. Did he like them or, on the contrary, does he want to know nothing more about Dune?

Will we see the fall of Paul Atreides in a presumed third part of Dune?

In an interview with Screen Rant, the actor has responded the following about whether he has seen the second part of Villeneuve’s adaptation:

I haven’t seen it yet. I’m looking forward to the continuation of the story and seeing how they handle it. The truth is that I love the book Dune, so any opportunity to see that story again makes me happy”.

So, although MacLachlan said at the time that he had seen the first part and liked it, he has not had time to see the second part yet. However, both he and Villeneuve agree that the first book of Dune is only the first part of Paul Atreides’ journey. There is still more to see of his reign, something that, if everything goes well for the director, we will see in a future third part. For now, the box office and critical data support this presumed sequel, but everything is in Warner’s hands.
