WhatsApp is working on a new update that will allow translating all chat messages. According to the website WABetaInfo, this new functionality will operate through language packs and will offer users a switch to automatically translate all new messages in the selected thread. In addition, a panel will allow choosing the language to which the messages will be translated, simplifying communication between users who speak different languages.
The translation tool promises to revolutionize the way WhatsApp users interact in multilingual conversations. Until now, reading messages in another language required copying the text and pasting it into an external translation application, a process that interrupted the flow of the conversation. With this new functionality, WhatsApp will allow users to read and respond in real time without leaving the app.
Although the feature is still in development, it has already been seen in a beta version of the app for Android devices. It is also likely that WhatsApp is working on its implementation for iPhone, thus expanding its reach to more users.

Previous reports stated that WhatsApp’s translation technology was based on real-time translation by Google. However, the latest report indicates that the company is developing its own message translation technology. This new approach not only improves security by preserving end-to-end encryption, but also processes messages on the user’s device. This means that it will be necessary to download some language packs to enable translation, but it guarantees greater security and simplifies interoperability between iPhone and Android users.
For now, it is unknown whether the translation will only apply to incoming messages or if user responses will also be interpreted. In any case, the update promises a smoother and safer communication for WhatsApp users worldwide.
