Ramadan is a very important holiday for Muslims, as it allows them to deepen their faith and introspect their lives and actions. Additionally, fasting during Ramadan is an act of self-discipline and personal strength that can improve a person’s resilience, both physically and psychologically.

This year, Ramadan will begin on Thursday, March 23, and will last for almost a month, until April 21. During this time, all adult Muslims will be required to observe the fast, known as ‘sawm’, from the time they go through puberty. However, there are exceptions for people with chronic illnesses, women who are pregnant, lactating or menstruating, and those in the middle of necessary travel.

However, it is important to note that fasting can have health effects if carried out for a long time and without proper precautions. Therefore, Muslims should ensure that they are adequately hydrated during the hours allowed for fluid intake, do not overeat at dawn and dusk, and eat a balanced diet for the rest of the day.
