It’s a cyclical debate in the world of video games: When will ‘GTA VI‘ finally appear? It is the most anticipated game, Rockstar has already announced that it is in the final stage of development… So, where is it? Why is there no specific release date? The reason is very simple: it doesn’t even matter. It doesn’t matter if the game is prepared for Christmas, Easter or a lost week in October: it is going to be, without a doubt, a huge success.

Big, Tremendous, Amazing

It is the Holy Grail of any company, not just video games: a product that, regardless of the time of year it is released or who is behind it, is guaranteed to be a absolute success. Rockstar keeps the release tightly controlled because, unlike other titles, it doesn’t need promises of the future. In fact, it is beneficial for them to build the game’s narrative only when it is perfect, without crunches or rush. The perfect game. The Holy Grail.

Of course, this leads to specialized websites filling news with rumors about its future release date, something that the studio may not even have clear yet. What would change if ‘GTA VI‘ came out in July instead of December? Absolutely nothing. The sales, which will also continue over the years, would be the same.

In fact, the ones who should be most concerned about the release of ‘GTA VI’ are not Rockstar or the players, but the rest of the companies that, just like when there is a blockbuster in the cinema, will proceed to withdraw during the month before and after the blockbuster, knowing that releasing games during that time is condemning them to suicide.

“When will ‘GTA VI’ arrive?” is not the right question. The right question would be “Who the hell cares when ‘GTA VI‘ arrives?” Only those who have bitten their nails to the bone and those who have to wait a few more months. Every day that passes is one more day of free marketing, waiting for the exact moment to make the Internet explode into a thousand pieces. Figuratively… And almost literally.
