In 2023, American author Rebecca Yarros released Blood Wings, her first novel in the fantasy saga Empyrean, which quickly became a literary phenomenon. Through TikTok and BookTok, the book captured the attention of a young audience, positioning Yarros as one of the most-read authors of her generation. The story is set in the fictional kingdom of Nevarre, which is in conflict with Poromiel, and follows the misadventures of Violet Sorrengail, a young woman who faces multiple challenges on her path to bond with a dragon and deal with her teenage heart.

Just a year before its publication, Amazon and Outlier Society, Michael B. Jordan’s production company, acquired the rights to adapt Blood Wings. By 2024, it was revealed that Moira Walley-Beckett, known for her work on Breaking Bad, would be the showrunner and main writer of the series. The choice of Walley-Beckett has generated expectations among fans, who hope for a faithful interpretation of the world created by Yarros.

In a recent meeting with fans, Rebecca Yarros expressed her satisfaction upon reading the script adaptations.
