Good news is coming for keyboard and mouse lovers: Microsoft now allows using both peripherals within Xbox Cloud Gaming. Soon, users of the service will be able to play their favorite titles from a web browser or the Xbox app with the good old keyboard and mouse.

However, we still have to wait for it to reach the rest of the world, as it is currently limited to users who are part of the Xbox Insider program. Although compatibility will not extend to the entire Xbox Cloud Gaming catalog, it has been confirmed that we will be able to enjoy games like Fortnite, Sea of Thieves, or Halo Infinite.

On the other hand, participants in the Xbox Insider program will be able to start using keyboard and mouse from supported web browsers, which are Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.

According to Microsoft, to test this new game feature, you will need to use fullscreen mode within the browser. This is necessary for the game to properly capture the mouse pointer as input. If you change your mind and want to go back to playing with your Xbox controller, simply use the keyboard shortcut Alt + F9. If you want to know which titles are currently compatible, here is the complete list:

  • Fortnite (only in web browser)
  • ARK Survival Evolved
  • Sea of Thieves
  • Grounded
  • Halo Infinite
  • Atomic Heart
  • Sniper Elite 5
  • Deep Rock Galactic
  • High on Life
  • Zombie Army 4 Dead War
  • Gears Tactics
  • Pentiment
  • Doom 64
  • Age of Empires 2

Despite Microsoft’s announcement, we still don’t know when this functionality will be available to the rest of Game Pass subscribers. The arrival of keyboard and mouse support was first announced in 2022, but for now, we still don’t know much more.
