Microsoft’s Xbox Video service finally comes to the web. The movie and TV streaming service first appeared on the Xbox and Windows 8. Windows Phone users will have to wait a bit longer as Microsoft readies the app for release.
Xbox Video will run in most modern browsers and will require the Silverlight plug-in to work. Netflix, a Xbox Video competitor, also requires Silverlight to run. Curiously, the web version of Xbox Video does not support high definition streaming yet, something Netflix does support. Microsoft has also announced that the Windows Phone app will also lack HD support initially.
