If back in the day you were too lazy to switch discs while playing ‘Final Fantasy VII’, the four-year wait between ‘Remake’ and ‘Rebirth‘ must have felt endless. However, it’s coming to an end because this new invention from Square Enix, the second part of the -supposedly- definitive trilogy of Cloud and company’s adventures, is about to be released on the 29th. And we know you’re going to buy it. But just in case, they have already prepared a demo available on PS5. You never know.

The demo will show you the first steps of the Nibelheim episode, where you can choose to play as Cloud or Sephiroth. “Discover the initial episode of the game’s story and explore the world map. Your adventure, your choice!”, says Square itself. It is one of the surprises that Sony was possibly keeping for today’s State of Play, which promises to be a strong statement.

It will be there where we will know everything about this ‘Final Fantasy VII Rebirth’ that will continue from ‘Remake’ but will not keep your stats from that game. If you finished at maximum level with the idea of making the next game a walk, we have bad news. The remakes that change key plot elements, in the style of ‘Evangelion’, are starting to become something very common and certainly logical: keep the fans attentive and let them trust to then give them the blow.

No one knows exactly what will be hidden among the intertwined stories of ‘Final Fantasy VII Rebirth’, but for the first time, we can get close to intuiting them. These are sweet times for lovers of RPGs, because just a couple of years ago, a remake of ‘Crisis Core’ also appeared for all consoles, and, truth be told, it is having much more success than the sixteenth part released last year.

No one knows what awaits in the future of Square Enix, but the success and hype caused by this ‘Rebirth’ leads to think that, maybe, perhaps, it is time to get to work retelling the most beloved episodes of the franchise and leave the seventeenth part for a moment when the audience is more receptive.
