Demakes have been a trend for quite some time now… and rightfully so. After all, it involves reimagining how a current video game would look in a past style, offering a fresh perspective on a particular work. However, it’s not just limited to video games: TV series and movies are also ripe for the treatment. This time around, it’s the turn of a legendary series beloved by many – myself included: Twin Peaks.

The popular American series created by David Lynch and Mark Frost continues to linger in the collective imagination more than three decades later. However, the fiction is now making its leap into the interactive world with Twin Peaks: Into the Night, its new video game.

Don’t worry, there’s no need to rush or scream in disbelief if you haven’t heard about it. This title isn’t official, meaning it’s quite normal that you might not have caught wind of it, no matter how big a fan of the series you are. Produced by a group of devoted series fans, this project seeks to capture the ‘Laura Palmer experience’ in a truly distinctive manner. Rather than going for cutting-edge graphics or the like, the Blue Rose Team has chosen to tap into the emotional core of many by adopting a graphic style reminiscent of the PlayStation 1 era. And yes, it suits it astonishingly well, truth be told.

As they themselves mention on their profile, the intention was to ‘pay tribute to those good old classic games from the ’90s’, all the while adapting the beloved series.

Needless to say, the video game is completely free – bearing in mind that the rights to Twin Peaks are not owned – and can be downloaded from here. It’s a mere 500 megabytes in size, so we recommend giving it a try, especially if you’re a fan of the series (and even more so if you appreciate video games with a PS1 aesthetic).
