Although it’s been around for a good few years, Craigslist is still one of the 1st stops for people looking to bag a good deal online, find an apartment, or track down other bargains. You’ll get the most out of the service if you can access it on the go, however, so if you’re a regular user, getting a mobile app is definitely worth some thought.
These apps have push notifications, meaning you don’t have to wait until you go searching to find good deals. Instead, they’ll come to you! Some also have Google Maps integration, making it easier to find your bargain once you’ve actually tracked it down. Finally, all of them let you post ads easily and quickly, meaning you don’t have to go through the steps of turning on the PC, taking pictures and uploading them every time you want to sell something.
Here’s our top 4 apps for Craigslist users on the go!
Best for: people who want the licensed, official Craigslist app
Original, and best? This strangely-named app was the original – and official – portal to Craigslist on your mobile device. Like all the worthwhile apps, it lets you both post and search for ads, has advanced search features, and a few nice extras that make it worth a second look. For a start, it takes care with images, meaning that you can see what you’re looking for in extra detail, and push notifications, lessening the chance that you’ll ever miss a good deal again. It also says you can post an ad in less than 1 minute, a claim that other apps don’t dare make!
Best for: people who want a good all-rounder with upgrade possibility
Keeping with the awkwardly-named app theme, c•PRO craigslist Client Droid is one of various Craiglist apps from a developer called Escargot Studios. It’s a good all-rounder, and even though it’s not official, it has all the features you’d expect of a licensed app. Of particular note are strong search features, push notifications, and Google Maps integration. What it lacks are slick looks, but when you take its feature-rich options into account, that doesn’t seem so bad.
Best for: people who value looks AND function
If there’s one thing that most Craiglist apps have in common it’s that, a bit like the website itself, it’s that they’re nothing special to look at. The simply-named Craigslist for Android is an exception, so if you’re looking for something a little easier on the eyes, check it out. Although it offers much of the same functionality as the other apps, it pays special attention to the visual aspect, and succeeds in making a pretty nice app. Another strong point – they emphasize their attention to privacy issues, which hopefully means that this app is a little more careful with your private data.
Best for: people who want the fastest, cleanest Craigslist experience
Finally, Craigslist by ClasPics emphasizes search speed, no bad thing. It aims to get your search results to you as quickly as possible, and to maximize your speed when navigating around them. It removes unnecessary and repeated characters from titles, looks great on tablets, and is primed to use as little battery as possible, meaning that if you’re looking for a lean, mean Craigslist experience, this could be the app for you.
