5 impossible (but absolutely true) facts about the Star Wars canon

There are still some people who believe that Star Wars is just nine movies. They haven’t heard about the TV series, the novels, the video games, or the comics. Lucky them! Between The Acolyte, the Marvel Comics, the non-canonical Legends timeline, or Rebels, keeping a complete chronology of what happens in a galaxy far, far away is practically impossible. Luckily, we have rescued the 8 most absolutely impossible events in “Star Wars” that are still canonical even after Disney brought galactic order. Believe it or not.

5-Life Day

There’s no doubt that the Star Wars Holiday Special is one of the crown jewels among the saga’s oddities, a TV special that George Lucas has unsuccessfully fought to eliminate, and which also marked the first appearance, in animated form, of Boba Fett. It aired on November 17, 1978, on CBS, and although there has been (and will be) no official release in home format or streaming, high-quality copies are available on the Internet.

At the time, the intention was to maintain public interest in the saga by giving them a variety show and creating anticipation until The Empire Strikes Back arrived. The result was a disaster, in which Chewbacca and his family celebrated something called Life Day. Unbelievably, it is still canon and appears on the official “Star Wars” website for some reason.

4-Teras Käsi

In 1997, the fighting game Masters of Teras Käsi, for PlayStation, was a kind of Street Fighter with the characters from the saga that has been widely ridiculed for years. However, instead of burying it two meters underground and forgotten, in Han Solo, back in 2018, we discovered that one of the characters, Qi’Ra, was skilled in the martial art of Teras Käsi, turning part of that terrible video game into a canon.

3-Jaxxon, the green rabbit

When Return of the Jedi premiered and there was absolutely nothing else to feed the fans, Marvel invented a comic book saga full of extravagant characters, such as a space Don Quixote and a green rabbit named Jaxxon, who, once the canon and order were reestablished, should have become non-canonical because even George Lucas didn’t like him. And yet, Jaxxon T. Tumperakki keeps appearing in the comics over and over again, to the point where he is currently canonical once more. A green rabbit with a gun. Is it time for him to appear in a live-action series? Yes, please and thank you.

2-Lightsaber helicopters

Why not, while we’re at it. In season 2 of Rebels, they decided that the villains could use their lightsaber to spin it like a propeller and fly because anything goes. It only lasts a minute in one episode, it’s never mentioned again, but now it’s canon, and it can appear anywhere in the saga at any time. In fact, please, I just ask that in the most epic moment of The Mandalorian, Grogu appears flying with a lightsaber. It’s not too much to ask for.

1-Coca-Cola

Yes. Coca-Cola is now canon in Star Wars thanks to its Galaxy’s Edge attraction, which means Luke Skywalker doesn’t have to keep drinking green milk: He can also take a good sip of soda! Believe it or not, it has an internal story: Coca-Cola was served in different places on the planet Batuu, and it was a drink imported from the planet Mygeeto by the smuggler Jat Kaa. I don’t know what you have read, I have only read “We want money” in a very epic way.
