Recently, a Reddit user proposed an idea that has sparked great interest among World of Warcraft enthusiasts: allowing the transmog from a raid difficulty to also unlock those from lower levels. This suggestion has resonated within the community, as many players seek to maximize the aesthetics of their characters without the need to repeatedly complete the same challenges at different difficulties.
Sometimes the best ideas come from outside
In World of Warcraft, cosmetic transmogifications are highly valued rewards that allow players to customize the appearance of their armor while keeping their original stats. This mechanic has led many in the community to argue that “fashion is the true endgame“, reflecting players’ interest in enhancing the aesthetics of their characters, often with as much emphasis as on the development of attributes and skills.
Currently, cosmetic rewards are distributed across various difficulties, forcing players to face multiple levels to achieve 100% of these rewards. This system has been a source of frustration for many, especially those who have already demonstrated their skill at higher levels, as illustrated by an example where a player has 6/9 cosmetics unlocked on heroic difficulty, but only 1/9 on normal difficulty.
Despite the fact that the proposal received a largely positive consensus in the forums, it is also argued that its implementation may not align with the interests of Blizzard Entertainment, the company behind the game. Thus, although the idea of a cross-difficulty unlock has merits, it may never see the light in the World of Warcraft ecosystem.
