Adobe’s strong commitment to generative artificial intelligence has led to nearly all its programs incorporating new functionalities based on this technology in one way or another. Adobe Express is one of the latest to undergo a transformation thanks to AI.
The recent integration of Adobe Firefly into Adobe Express now allows us to generate images, edit them easily, or apply visual effects to our texts as in today’s case. You only need to describe how you want your words to look: Adobe Express will bring your instructions to life.
Text Effects: How to Generate Them Using AI
On the main screen of Adobe Express, you’ll see a wide range of options before you start editing. Besides text effects, Adobe Express allows you to edit images for social media, documents, and even videos if needed.
In this case, what interests us is creating text effects. To access them, you need to click on Generative AI, and below that, you’ll find the Text Effects section.
- You’ll see a text box just below Text Effects. In it, you need to describe the type of effect you want to recreate. Remember to write it clearly so that Adobe Express can enhance its results. When you’re done, click on Generate.
- Within Text Effects, you can experiment with the Style section. This helps Adobe Express understand the style (as the name suggests) you are looking for when generating the effect. Do you want it to be realistic? Then leave it on Realistic. What if you want it to look like a pencil sketch? Then, you need to select Pencil Sketch. There are various options. Try each one and see what results they give.
- Adobe Express provides four results by default. If these don’t match what you’re looking for, click on Generate more. Generating variants does not consume Adobe Express’s generative credits, so you can make as many as you like.

Customize Your Text Design to the Maximum
The visual effects we apply to our texts won’t be useful if they aren’t built on solid foundations. What do we mean by this? For starters, choosing a good font is key. Ask yourself several questions: which font would best showcase the effect I want to apply?
From the Font section, you can modify the font your text will use at any time. Next to it, you’ll find options to add or not add a border, choosing between Tight, Medium, or Loose.
You can also try various pre-made effect samples from Sample Effects. Here, you’ll see a bit of everything: effects with natural motifs, animal themes, abstract designs… the list is long. These tools in Adobe Express will allow us to unleash our creativity using different styles and effects to make our text much more attractive.

Save and Export Your Project
Well, you’ve found the effect you wanted. Now, it’s time to save it. Review the project and all its elements to ensure the text is correct and exactly how you wanted it.
One of the great advantages of Adobe Express is that your projects will automatically save to the cloud. This makes them editable, allowing you to modify them anytime and from anywhere. The free plan provides 5 GB of storage, which can be expanded to 100 GB if you subscribe to the Premium plan.
If you want to download your project locally, it’s as easy as clicking on Download. You’ll see it in the top right corner, right next to Share. When downloading your file, you’ll have the option to do so in PNG, JPG, or PDF.

As a tip, it’s always good to maintain consistency in using effects and colors in our project to give it a more professional look. It’s also important that the text is easy to read. To achieve this, avoid colors that blend with the background or font sizes that are too small.
Adobe Firefly, the Technology That Makes It Possible
Adobe Firefly is an innovative artificial intelligence tool designed to enhance creativity. As mentioned earlier, it is also available in other Adobe programs besides Adobe Express.
Essentially, Firefly helps you translate your ideas into images and videos, among other things. Its generative power allows us to apply effects, enhance details, and create content without needing to be a design expert. Its integration into Adobe Express has made the application even more accessible for people who want to bring their projects to life easily and enjoyably.
Since generating content with AI requires many computing resources, Adobe uses so-called generative credits. Credits are used as a currency to utilize certain AI functions. The consumption of these depends on the function being used. In the case of text effects, Adobe does not require any generative credits, at least for now. Each subscription plan has a certain amount assigned, which you can check from your profile.
