In a significant leap towards smarter document management, Adobe has introduced an innovative AI assistant within its popular Acrobat and Reader applications. Aimed at professionals and students alike, this advanced tool is poised to transform how users interact with PDFs, offering capabilities such as generating concise summaries and providing insightful answers to document-related queries. Initially in its beta phase, the AI assistant has now moved to general availability, promising to streamline workflows and enhance productivity, setting a new standard for digital document handling.
Adobe’s new AI assistant is here to simplify life for professionals and students. Adobe launched an artificial intelligence assistant in its Reader and Acrobat applications, capable of generating summaries and answering questions about PDFs and other documents.
The AI assistant, previously in beta, is a conversational engine “deeply integrated into PDF workflows, according to a post on Adobe’s blog. The company plans to launch a subscription plan for the tool once it comes out of beta version.
The AI assistant helps users digest information from long PDF documents by generating brief summaries of their content. The assistant also answers questions about the information in a document through a “conversational interface” and suggest questions about the file that users could ask.

The AI assistant can also generate citations that allows users to verify the source of its answers, and it produces text for various formats, such as emails, reports, and presentations, as reported by The Verge.
Other AI models, such as ChatGPT, offers PDF readers that similarly streamline the analysis of lengthy documents, but those services require users to upload a PDF. Adobe’s AI assistant is a built-in feature.
Adobe announced the general availability of the Acrobat AI Assistant as it exited its beta phase. Users can now access the full range of AI capabilities through an add-on subscription plan starting at $4.99 per month. The AI assistant is available on desktop, web, and mobile platforms, providing users with powerful tools to summarize, navigate, and extract insights from their documents efficiently.
Access AI Assistant for Free
Adobe is offering free, full access to all Acrobat AI Assistant features from June 18 – June 28, 2024. After this period, both free Reader and paid Acrobat customers can purchase an AI Assistant add-on subscription. Early access pricing for the subscription starts at $4.99 per month, available until September 4. Additionally, starting June 18, all individual Acrobat Standard and Pro customers will receive 250 generative credits per month at no extra cost for a limited time, applicable to the new Edit Image and Generate Image features.
