Few studios garner as much goodwill as Remedy Entertainment. And there are good reasons for that. They create unique, very distinctive games with strong characteristics and a pronounced auteur tone. Whether it’s Alan Wake, Control, or even Quantum Break, it’s undeniable that they always strive to break boundaries, do something different, and create something only they can. This seems unlikely to change with their next game. Nor with their next DLC.
Remedy Entertainment has announced FBC: Firebreak, a cooperative first-person shooter where we will play as an operative of the Federal Bureau of Control. That is, the agency featured in the Control series.
Previously known under the codename Project Condor, this is a cooperative multiplayer experience for three people focused on gameplay. As part of the FBC crisis management unit, our duty will be to restore order when the biggest crises erupt in the building. Therefore, our missions will always be the strangest, most dangerous, and darkest out there. For which we will be equipped with the most forceful and unnecessarily convulsive weapons and tools we can imagine. And if it’s tremendously fun in the process, well, the head office didn’t take that into account.
This announcement comes at the same time as the release date for the second DLC of Alan Wake 2, named The Lake House. With a release date set for October 22nd, a perfect date for us to enjoy it in time for Halloween, in this DLC we will play as Kiran Estevez, an agent of the Federal Bureau of Control, in charge of the Beta Investigations Unit, who will have to venture into The Lake House. A space in Cauldron Lake where the Dark Presence is wreaking havoc and, perhaps, escaping Alan Wake’s influence once again.
Although Alan Wake 2 will keep us entertained until then, we will still have to wait to enjoy Remedy’s next game. FBC: Firebreak will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC sometime in 2025. Additionally, it will be available on day one for both PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members as well as Game Pass Ultimate and PC members.
