Smart assistants are one of the most curious forms of home automation that we have adopted in our home over the years. From choosing the music on our player without pressing a single button to knowing the weather in various cities to controlling most of the smart objects in our home, these assistants have become one of the most loyal companions of anyone who likes technology and, perhaps from now on, of anyone looking to access quality television content.

A surprising proposal from Amazon

Just over a year after learning of Amazon’s lack of confidence in its line of Alexa devices, it is difficult not to view Amazon’s new measure with some mistrust, but at the same time it is also exciting to see that Jeff Bezzos’ company is trying to maintain a quality service in Alexa devices, although this time they seem to be limited to those users who own an Amazon Fire TV Stick, Amazon’s Android device that can turn any TV into a Smart TV.

Through Alexa the command “Alexa, let’s watch TV” (or a similar command) can be spoken and the device will connect to one of the multiple new channels that Fire TV offers. In them the viewer can find series, music videos, sports and news from more than 420 providers across the world.

Although it requires an Amazon Fire TV Stick to work, as soon as it is connected to the home automation system, any Echo device will be able to transmit that command, so that a user could change channels from their Echo Pop over and over again by simply giving a command to the device.
